Keechu`s new home (The Rectangular Box)

So the next day i got keechu this rectangular box in which i put some gravel nd a stone with some plants and one fake turtle as keechu`s friend! ... keechu liked this box much more then the last one and she was enjoying all the water and swimming lightheartedly yaeeii =D

After some days i figured that keechu was blowing some bubbles from her nose and i went to the local petshop i told the guy there about keechu`s condition and he just said to me oh your turtle makes bubble? well thats normal it means your turtle is very happy and enjoying its habitat!! ... So i came back to home and i monitored keechu all day and i wasnt satisfied from what i was told! so i googled a bit and i was shocked to know that my turtle must be feeling cold! so i changed the water a little and replaced it with some hot water and now again i was worried (once again yes) so i changed my turtle`s setup ....




So This was the new setup that i gave keechu .. i put this big white shell and alot of gravel so keechu has dry land and doesnt feel cold and keechu can go inside the shell and hide there so she feels some privacy and i also gave some water to her so she can always have some water to swim (without having the knowledge that RES are aquatic turtles haha silly me) ... so after some days ONCE AGAIN keechu wasnt happy and i was worried ... keechu used to go in water and when she came out she got all the gravel on her body (everywhere) and i was worried that what if she eats the gravel she can die! and she wasnt eating the pellets still :S ... and the worst thing keechu used to stay 24/7 under that big white shell and she never came out first 1-2 days removed the shell but then i put it back thinking i should give keechu some time of her own to relax and get used to the setup ... unfortunately things were still not working out ... keechu went under that shell again! but this time i said to myself let her go she will come out i dont have to force her to come out ... and 4-5 days passed! and she was inside that shell!!!! and the 5th or 6th day i was veryy worried and i removed the shell to see why shez not comming out at all! ... and i picked her in my hand and she wasnt moving OMG! i thought i killed her cuz of my goofness but she moved she had gravel all on her face but she never opened her eyes ... now i said to myself something has to be done im not doing anything right i will kill the poor turtle i dont deserve to keep her but it was still better to keep the turtle this way rather then giving her back to the guy who kept turtle in mud water jeez! ... anywayz i put keechu in water and she opened her eyes after 5 mins or so and looked veryyyyy lethargic... afterall she was just a baby turtle and she hadn`t eaten a single thing since last 5 days and no water!!.... so i just sit on the internet and i googled alooot! i post all the questions i had in my mind on answers.yahoo and i got the feedback the very same day thanks to everyone out there ... and i was knocked out by the turtle requirements! and i discovered that my turtle (RES) was an AQUATIC TURTLE! and OMG! i was keeping my poor keechu as a slave compared to the turtle requirements! ... i prayed to GOD and just said i know i am silly but i never knew anything what to do and there was no one here to guide me as well and i tried to do whatever i can please please save my turtle! i will do anything for my keechu just make her active! make her eat! ...so i changed keechu`s setup again.

Oh well i gave her alot of water now and keechu ate some pellets too (ofcourse she would she never eat any since so many days) and she was a little active now still a turtle who was scared from her keeper :( ... but things were working out now! and i called keechu a MIRACLE TURTLE because keechu survived without eating 5-6 days while she was just a baby and without water (which i was told is impossible for turtles to survive) ....i decided to take keechu out to sun the next day.

Keechu`s Escape

It was January 2009 when me and my family were out for dinner! , just as we came bak i went to check keechu! and OMG! she was gone! my heart stopped for a second! then i thought that she cudnt go anywhere must be in the room or house! cant go out! but i was scared as the box was on the table which was pretty high , my fingers were crossed! i was worried that poor keechu first fell from the box onto the table then from table to floor! was she okay? was she even alive? when exactly did she fell? is it too long? all these questions were comming in my mind! my mom ,my dad and my bro helped me thanks to them! we all looked for keechu everywhere and we couldnt find her! WHERE COULD SHE GO?????!!! i was just out of any possible answers to that question! how could she not be in here? when suddenly i heard my mom! "Hey keechu is here!" oooooo myyyyy wat a relief i ran to my mom`s room and under her dressing table keechu was sleeping or was scared! she didnt move an inch! awwwww she looked just so simple and cute! i held her in my hand! and she wasnt moving at all i was worried again! i moved my finger on keechu`s shell gently and i got no response i put her in water and she wasnt reacting! my bro and i said to each other shez gone! i was about to die from inside! when suddenly one bubble came from keechu`s mouth OMG OMG OMG!! i was fullfilled with joy once again! keechu opened her eyes! and she stick her neck out and looked me in the eyes! and i said to her dont u ever do that again! and i ran to the market and got her a new rectangular box which was keechu`s new home.

Introducing Benjamin

My little cousin who is deeply in love with animals (just like me) specially Cat ,Rabbits and Chicks was dying to have a turtle now and she just bought one today and named him benjamin she brought benjamin to my home so we could introduce benjamin to keechu and benjamin unlike keechu was a very active turtle and all the time wanting to run here and there so we put benjamin in keechu`s home sweet home.Keechu stick her neck out as soon as benjamin came closer and was alert!




Well...guess what? both the turtles looked so happy keechu was a little slow though as if scared or being overpowered though bejamin looked small in size but they were same in age probably because male turtles have smaller shell compared to females anywayz .. benjamin and keechu came at a corner and looked each other in the eye side by side! and keechu put her little hand on benjamin`s hand awwww that was just sooooo sweet :D


Keechu and Benji were soo cute together! and were peaceful turtles not creating problems at all.


Sad that my cousin had to go now so that means benjamin had to go as well, and it was sad but cute how keechu looked sad when benjamin was about to go the picture tells all benjamin whispering in keechu`s ear that i will come back and keechu is sad she wants benji to stay with her awww :(

But my cousin kept bringing benjamin again and again and both turtles were happy but when they were left on floor keechu moved after a very long time whereas benjamin was very active.

When benjamin and keechu were first introduced to each other I made a video where keechu felt shy or scared or atleast thats what we thought as we were just standing and observing both turtles!

As Time Moved On

After a week there wasn`t much change in keechu`s behaviour but out of 4-5 pellets she was just eating 1 or 2 nothing more then that i was feeding her once every day but everyday she just ate 1 pellet or 2 or sometimes not even a single pellet.I just couldnt think of any reason that would stop her from eating the pellets so i decided to go to the aquarium shop and tell them that my turtle is not eating much so what should be done?

As i went to the shop i told the guy about my turtle and a little about the box that she was kept in so the guy told me to try worms i bought the worms and i tried to feed keechu with the worms she saw the worm and looked excited but yes not more then me but guess what? she just smell the worm and left so things were pretty much the same.

The Next Day

The next day as i woke up i saw some pellets were on gravel which means she never ate them :( one or two pellets were missing so that was a good sign atleast she ate something! i let her explore the new environment as i could feel that she was a little scared she stick her neck out of water and as soon as she saw some movement she started running on gravel then go underwater and hide in shell but still looking at me with her 2 little angel eyes ^_^ as if shes been threatened by a HUMAN! :-P

I feed her some pellets once again and she never ate them just like the other day now i was really worried what to do? why she doesnt eat them? i thought turtles loved pellets :( but then i thought to myself its just her second day give her a little time and so i decided to give her a week or two atleast hopefully things will become better.

Keechu`s First Day

Well the first day was really exciting i just had no clue on how to care for turtles but i just loved keechu so much couldnt get my eyes of her O_O yea exactly! :-P anyways i just watched her for hours and she was scared as well looking at me with eyes wide open but hiding in her shell! yes that was really cute!

I just wasnt so sure about the setup i gave keechu i mean just a small circular box with gravel and very little water thats it? :( keechu ran in water when i got close to her scared little turtle probably never saw a human being getting this close to her!


I thought of keeping a close eye on keechu`s activities and all to get a better idea on what turtles really do when they r not being watched! (according to them) so all i noticed that day was that he wanted to go out of the box and he didnt move that much when i was around!



I gave keechu some pellets and keechu wasnt eating them at all probably because its a drastic change for her so much going on in her life! first aquarium shop and now at home! pheww poor keechu was all confused and tired! so the day moved on and i left the pellets to see if she eats them till the next day!

How I Met Keechu

The sun was bright the clouds looked perfect when i just thought to take a little walk as it was windy outside i just thought of going to the nearby aquarium shop to check the latest december stock! i had told the guy once to bring turtles! and guess what? as i stood outside the shop i suddenly notice about 15-20 baby red eared sliders in a TUB standing on each other and they sure looked so cute! i just was so excited to buy one and yes it was very difficult for me to decide which one to go for!

They were all running after each other in the little tub almost all turtles were at one side of the tub and each and every turtle was trying to climb each other and escape the tub but one turtle i notice was least bothered and that turtle was just at the opposite corner of the tub i got a little close to the turtles and all turtles ran in the other direction yes probably scared! but that lonely turtle again came to the opposite side of the tub not playing with other turtles i asked myself WHY? WHY is this baby not with them?

I just smiled and thought ill come in evening or so and then decide which one to buy and so as i was about to leave i just got 2 steps away from that lonely turtle who suddenly became active and ran to me! as if the baby turtle wanted me to take her and that just took my heart away! i hold the baby turtle in my hands and i just bought it at once and i took the baby home and put it in a small box with some gravel and water and i named it Keechu.
